VINATech, Winner of National Industry Awards of R&D sector

VINATech won 2020 National Industry Award in R&D. The host of National Industry Award is the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies(IPS), and the sponsors are Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

VINATech's main item is a supercapacitor, a kind of physical battery, which is an energy storage device that can store energy and instantly supply current in need. It goes into both devices that need fast charging and discharging. Applications include smart meter for water and gas, memory back up, automotive airbag safety device and DashCam, solar power generation and wind turbine.

VINATech developed the world's first 3V supecapacitor in 2010 and established an affiliated research institute in 2004 and completed R&D lab construction in 2018 with several professional engineers.

VINATech's supercapacitor brand ‘Hy-Cap’ is currently ranked first in the market share of supercapacitors below 1000F. VINATech meets UL, IATF, ISO, and RoHS standards and the new product lineup of Hy-Cap Neo, VET and VPC products stands out with improved performance. 

About 90% of sales comes from exports, and the revenue has been going in the smooth path. It has shown 30% or more increase every year from 2017 to 2019. During the same period, the sales profit has risen as  4.78%→14.33%→19.48%. VINATech established the first domestic supply chain of the fuel cell catalyst support-catalyst, MEA and is focusing on developing MEA mass production technology.
